Our Music: Noble Cain's "The Lord Is My Shepherd
(Posted April 26, 2018)
If you were present at this past Sunday’s Service you heard a very special, a capella arrangement of “The Lord is my shepherd,” composed in 1944 by Noble Cain (1896-1977). Many composers have written their own version of the 23rd Psalm, but in my opinion, none have done it as well as Noble Cain. Each section of the composition has its own creative interpretations and harmonies which come to a fabulous climax followed by a warm melodious finality.
Noble Cain - a choirmaster and composer, was proclaimed as a choir authority and composer of sacred music. He directed the Chicago A Capellia Choir which could be heard over the air on the NBC-Red Network each Sunday at 4:30 p.m. I thank my choir for their wonderful presentation of this anthem. Unfortunately, you cannot find this anthem on YouTube.
